A Letter from the Executive Director

PYA visit to Nokwanda Educare

A year and a half ago, a group of 8 friends went to South Africa on a vacation. While we had the opportunity to see only a fraction of the beautify of this great country, what we found to be most amazing was our visit to the township of Khayelitsha, outside of Capetown —  the commitment of a wonderful teacher and the longing her students had to learn.  We brought supplies for them to use and the smiles on their faces were incredible!

This is what first sparked our interest to create an Africa-focused organization. Because in the eye of every child we spent time with, we could see potential. These were future scholars, artists, business women and men, scientists, teachers…they just didn’t know it yet.

As I reflect on this day of service, I think about our duty to tap these talents and support children’s rights to education.  To give them every opportunity to dream and to fulfill their dreams.  To work with mothers, fathers, children, teachers, and communities who just need a little extra support.  Project YES Africa is just the first step to tap these talents and encourage you to help us in this effort.

Peace,

Michelle

P.S.   We are excited to announce the launch of the Project YES Africa marketplace! Every purchase made will go to supporting educating children.   Please visit at: mkt.com/projectyesafrica
